7.1 - Numbering

The simplest approach to creating a scale is to simply number the given values. Due to the following treatments, please note

a) identical (double) values ??receive the same number

b) Values ??that differ only slightly from each other do not justify a whole counting step in the numbering and must be adjusted in the counting by reducing the counting step. This plays a role in the later linearization. (See example sun on page 164) Two almost identical values ??create a staircase in the function when the straight line is later formed. In order to smooth the function, it is therefore necessary to have the two values ??close to each other in terms of numbering.

c) To later determine the e-function, it is better to start counting with zero.

This gives n+1 values, namely: w0, w1, w2, ... wk, ... wn

and there is a minimum value wmin and a maximum value wmax

At least 2 values ??are required for the later minimum-maximum formation. However, for the subsequent logarithmization and linearization, at least 3 values ??are required, otherwise a clear approximation line cannot be formed.

At least three values ??are therefore required: n + 1 > 4
